Identify the visitors on your Next.js site

Your tag

Copy your tag from the dashboard. It looks like this:

Steps on Next.js

1. 1App router: app/layout.tsx, inside <body>. Pages router: pages/_document.tsx, inside <body>.
2. 2Use a plain <script async> tag rather than next/script, so it is in the server-rendered HTML.
3. 3Client-side navigation is tracked automatically.

Astro, Remix and SvelteKit work the same way: the root layout's <body>.

Check it is working

Open your site once. The dashboard confirms the tag is live and lists you as the first visitor. If not, it says why.
